WHAT WE STAND FOR
Following the passing of the Late Layi Erogbogbo, it became apparent to the promoters of the Layi Erogbogbo Foundation that more can be done to prevent the loss of lives associated with goiter.
The disease has quietly ravaged lives of many; where survivors have suffered untoward social and economic impact due to stigmatization and hindrance to productivity.
Prevention of the disease is clearly linked to clear understanding of the causes, especially the low intake of iodine in one’s diet and consumption of poorly processed local foodstuff such as cassava (containing high levels of cyanide).
The Layi Erogbogbo Foundation is thus poised to “provide a veritable platform for advocacy about such endocrine diseases and support its management in affected members of the African population”.
